700R4 transmission service and cooling info

i have a 1992 chev 2500 c/w 700R4 fluid is hot under normal driving. fluid appears dark and smells off. looking for information on adjustments during pan service. also recommendations for heavyduty oil cooler to fit this application?

Yes replace the trans oil cooler from the radiator to a Heavyduty oil cooler and put the cooler on the frame away from the eng and place it on the right side of the frame behine the trans.this will in cooling your trans.
