98 Mitsubishi Carisma headlights inoperable

I have a 1998 Mitsubushi Carisma. The left headlight, lowbeam, didnt work so I bought a new bulb for it and am positive it is the correct I even researched it to be sure, well i replaced it and it still isnt working. what could be wrong with it or is there a fuse somewhere i dont know about that may need to be replaced?
