What is the anomalous behaviour of water.

water, when frozen, expands. this is an anomalous behavior as most liquids, when frozen, decreases in volume. this happens because of the particular crystal structure of ice (hexagonal). In a given volume one cal pack more molecules in liquid state than in solid (ice) state.
