BMW CARPHONE

HI everyone i have a BMW 1999 728I in it there is a cable and a fitting for a carphone ,on the stering wheel there is a small telephone bottom so i think it has been wired for a carphone but there is no phone what would be my best move be to get this up and working again could anyone help PS i dont even know what make of phone works off it
