Why is the friday after Thanksgiving called Black Friday?

thanksgiving and christmas is another way for us helpless consumers to give a couple boosts to our economy before the end of the year. To get the economy into the black and not into the red. An accounting term. Or people are so greedy that some die on this day to get a toy.

It's called Black Friday because that is when most people make the most money- sales wise.
