Hi there, I have a question about my Laptop battery. The battery was charged useing the wrong power supply at one time (b4 i got it used) and it seems to have blown a cell on the inside of the case. Ive opened the battery case, i work alot on electronics, and ive found that One cell is blown. I was wondering if i could remove the blown cell and solder the remaining ones back together. There is 8 cells inside of the batt. I believe there would still be enuff voltage to run the computer, but not for as long. Would this idea work do you think ? Below is a simple layout of the batt, the ones marked with -- are the working cells, the XX is the blown cell and the ?? is a good cell but im not sure if i could keep it in the line up. Thank you for your time and info =)& ideas,
Josh,
Line up One > |--|??|--|--| Line up Two > |--|XX|--|--|
thank you for your answer, i havent messed with the battery yet, but i do have plans to at least try, im just worried about burning the computer up mostly. The battery is lined up in a way that the hole battery is dead with the blown cell. Ill have to get out my trusty multimeater and give it a go sometime soon. thank all =0)
Not sure if that would be worthwhile. Like you said the voltage would probably be too low. Does it not work at all with the one blown cell? The battery probably has a built in circuit that cuts off power after dropping below a certain voltage, so with or without the cell it would essentially be dead. Also you risk causing a fire by tampering with it. You could probably find a cheap battery somewhere on the net by doing a google search. They also had some cheap ones on the sidebar ad links here that you can compare. Please post back here with your results in case you do manage to revive the battery.
