Can one with high BP be pregnant without problem.

I suffer from high blood pressure and my husband wants us to have a baby would it have a devastating effect

That would be considerd a high risk pregnancy, but that does not mean you can not have children. It just means you need to be closely monitored. Ckeck w/ your Dr.. He may be able to change medicines and also suggest a good high risk prenatal physican. Best of luck to you & your husband.

Yes you can still be pregnant and have a safe pregnancy. They will monitor your pregnancy and blood pressure closely but in most pregnancies your blood pressure takes a slight drop so you will "MAYBE" find yourself having better blood pressure during your pregnancy. Not everyone has that advantage but a lot of patients do.

Your general health is something whichdoes have an impact pregnancy. But pre-existing hypertention, if it is well controlled, and well monitored during pregnancy shuld not pose undo risk to you or baby. There are other factors during pregnancy whch can have a much greater negative effect.
