Can anyone tell me how to change the gearbox oil in a Toyota Corrolla 1998. How is the old oil released and how is the new oil filled.

There is a oil drain plug under your engine, you should remove that with a container underneath it to collect the used oil. After it is drained, the oil filter should be visible from that perspective or you might have to get at it from under the hood. It is a cylindrical metal object, you want to remove that as well. Rub a little oil around the rim of the new filter and screw it into place, make it tight but don't over do it. I have changed the oil on cars before where the filter was so tight we had to drill through the side of it and insert a screw driver to get enough torque to break the seal. After the new filter is in place, you need to replace the drain plug and add the oil to the crankcase from the top under the hood. If you look in your manual it will say what type, and how much to add. And there you are done, usually it costs you less than $10 to change the oil your self unless you use expensive synthetics and oil filters. Honestly if you are changing it every 3000 miles, and you aren't missing a change then regular oil is fine as well as a regular filter.
