Fatal error on computer during log-in

Question by pinkice Reward: Log in to view Status: Pending a resolution
I accidently turned off my computer without going through the channels. When I turn it on it won't get me to the log in screen. It posts an error message which says I have a fatal error. How do I correct this so I can use my computer?

See if you can boot into "safe mode" by pressing the F8 key right before it says "starting windows". If you can get into safe mode, run scandisk from there by double clicking on "my computer" then right click on your hard drive and select properties. Click on the "tools" tab, and under "error checking" click on "check now". Please post a clarification if you are not able to get into safe mode.

Start the computer, before anything comes up on the screen keep tapping the F8 key continuously for a minute until your screen comes up with an option list to choose from, scroll down to the option that says "last good configuration of windows working correctly " click on that option then press enter , your computer should then reboot the system and you can carry on using it again.
