NO IT STILL WOULD NOT START, I PLACED IT INTO FIRST GEAR AND TRIED TO START IT AND THERE WAS NO TURN OVER. THE ANTI THEFT LIGHT STILL APPEARS. WHAT ELSE CAN I TRY (I REALLY APPRECIATE YOU TAKING THE TIME TO HELP ME. THANK YOU!)

Clarification by EASTSIDEJOJO
YES, I TRIED BOTH OF MY KEYS AND STILL NOTHING, NOW MY BATTERY IS DEAD AND I'M TRYING TO CHARGE IT OR PURCHASE A NEW ONE. I CHECKED UNDER & AROUND THE STEERING COLUMM AND NO SIGNS OF BREAKING OR CUT WIRES. THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR YOUR TIME ! GREATLY APPRECIATED!

Clarification by EASTSIDEJOJO
YES, THE ANIT THEFT LIGHT AND HEADLIGHTS BLINKS LIKE EVERY SECOND. I'VE REPLACED THE BATTERY WITH A FULLY CHARGED BATTERY AND STILL THE SAME THING, BUT NOW ONLY THE ANTI THEFT LIGHT COMES ON WITHOUT THE BLINK. I'D REALLY LIKE TO THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR TIME AND EFFORT ON TRYING TO HELP ME WITH MY PROBLEM. I'M JUST TRYING TO FIGURE THIS OUT BECAUSE I DO NOT HAVE THE CASH TO PAY THE DEALERSHIP. DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA ON HOW TO DISARM THE ANTI THEFT, IF YOU DO CAN YOU PLEASE TELL ME HOW TO DO SO. THANK YOU .

Clarification by EASTSIDEJOJO
NO ! THAT'S WHY I NEED TO FIGURE THIS OUT, I CANNOT AFFORD IT AT ALL.

EastSideJojo,

I assume this is the same question you asked earlier. Here is a copy of my reply. You can click on the "post clarification" button if you would like to reply back:
On the 2006 Cobolt, the radio should not be tied to the vehicle's immobilizer system unless some aftermarket modifications were done. There is an issue with that car that won't allow it to crank if the shifter isn't all the way in "park". Try to push the shifter into park and see if it will let you start. Please post a clarification with your results. If it turns out that the shifter is causing the problems, then take it to the dealer and demand for them to fix it.

Do you have a second set of keys? If you do, try the second set and see if that works. Also, can you tell me if you see any damage underneath the steering column? It is possible that the person who stole your stereo may have attempted to start your car by cutting some ignition wires. Please let me know if that is the case so that I can further diagnose the issue. Thanks!

Thanks for the helpful information. My next question was going to be about the battery condition, but you beat me to it ;-) It seems as if it may just be an issue with the battery having not enough power to start the car, so your ignition system doesn't even try to turn the starter. I have a feeling that the anti-theft light is not related to the problem. Do any other lights come on when you turn the key? Let me know what happens after the battery is replaced/charged. Thanks!

Is your car still under warranty?

Have you checked all the fuses?
Does the car sound like it's trying to start? Or do you not hear any sounds at all. If you listen carefully, can you hear a faint "click" from the fuel pump relay under the steering column when you turn the key?

This is the least expensive thing I can think of:

Double check with the seller to see if it will work with your vehicle and if it will bypass the security mechanism.

Oh, and I also found these directions you can try:

1. Put the newly cut Master key into the keyway and turn it to the ON (RUN) position. A "security" indicator
light on the dashboard will stay on for 10 minutes.
2. Within 1 minute after the indicator light goes off, turn the ignition to "OFF", then return to the ON (RUN)
position. The indicator light again will stay on for 10 minutes (Do not remove the key.)
3. Again, within 1 minute after the indicator light goes off, turn the ignition to "OFF", then return to the ON
(RUN) position. The indicator light again will stay on for 10 minutes. (Do not remove the key.)
4. When the light goes off the third time, the new key is programmed into the computer and will start
the car. Remove the key and then re-insert it into the ignition lock and start the car.
All previously stored codes will be erased. To stop the process at any time, simply remove the key and use
an existing key to start the car.
