So I ride horses at my horseback riding classes. And my riding teacher put me on a really hard headed horse. (if you know what I mean :D) And that horse is really stubborn. If I kick to tell it to go, It wont go no matter how hard I kick. And if I hit him with the crop to make him go, He bucks. AND he likes to bring me out of the arena and I will put my leg on and try to turn him back to the arena but he wont go. So how can I get this horse to behave??? Please answer.
Your teacher should be doing a better job. Basically you don't want to get agitated with the horse. You have to act like you know what you're doing and act like you're in control for the horse to respect you and follow your orders. So stay calm and in charge.

dont forget in the wild horses have a dominant leader and for your horse to want to do you nice turn he must see you as a provider of safty and companionship and friendship also leadership SO emulate thst and your horse will WANT to please you. ps,mints do help, for the horse not you and do use sugar free pleeeeese.
One thing i've learned is to get their feet to move no matter what direction your going!!! Turn him around then try moving forward...when turning him of course kick him with the opposite foot!.. ie: turn him left kick with your right! turn him right kick him with your left!!!
Sometimes, the horse is tired of being used to train people. It may be that he's at the point of retirement with his job. Another thought is that sometimes a horse feels the position of the rider. What I mean is, very well trained horses do not need a crop or to be kicked to go. The horse knows when to walk, canter, stop, turn right, left and stop, all by the positioning of your body and the position of where you hold the reins.
