How do I clean out windows start up programs?

Question by geekwannabe Reward: 25 Pond Points + 10 Knowledge Tokens Status: Pending a resolution
what do I key in at the start/run menu to see the list of items that are starting when I start windows. I believe it is there and I have unchecked all items before but they keep coming back and I would like to get in there again and clean it out but forgot what to key in. And if I don't have the right location to do so please refresh my memory (no pun intended). JS

Thank you for the direction to the sidebars. I am looking for a simple fix that I know I have done before and know I can do again I just forgot what to type in to get to the list of what starts up when windows starts. All I have to do is uncheck those programs that want to start and that will solve my problem but I can't remember what to type in the dialoge box to bring me where it's probably like win_ something. Just frustratins because I should have written it down and I may even have written it down but can't remember where I put the directions. If you know can you tell me? Thanks
