How do I tell if I need new battery cables?

Question by Gatorgirl Reward: 25 Pond Points + 10 Knowledge Tokens Status: Pending a resolution
I bought a 2002 Ford escape Sept of 07-it had less than 27,000 miles on it. I took it to the dealership and ask if they would run a diagnostic on it to determine why it wasn't running- They told me I needed a new battery- so I had them put one in. 3 days later I'm stranded on the side of the road. Come to find out I never needed a battery- it was the alternator- and now they say I need battery cables- How can I tell if they Lying? Battery cables run $10.99 and up- they want to charge me $258.00...

one find a new dealor to help you and 2 ant real manach can tell a problem between the alternator and the battery. also that is way to much for them to change the cables. iwould recomend wal-mard or auto zone to help you out both are realy reasonable (sorry for the spelling it is late and i have no good lighting...)
