SONY VAIO VGN-FS215S KEYBOARD MOUSE PAD OPERATES A LEFT CLICK ONLY, while both left and right clickers fail to respond. For right clicks I USE A WIRELESS DIGITAL MOUSE but would like to activate the keyboard clickers. Is it possible to do this Thank You AR

"Annarose", Just so you know, I do know a "little" bit about computers, However I am sure that if Dave {Dave is the one on the "Knowledge Point Leader Board" that has all others beat, hands down,}[So he must know his stuff! lol!] If he see's this question and he does reply, He is much more computer savvy than I am, So if my suggestions do not help, I hope that Dave will reply and can tell you other possibilities to help you to solve your problem. He {from what I have read in some of his replies to computer related issues} has much more computer knowledge than I have. I was simply, in the two prior posts, Telling what I would look into to try to solve your issue. I hope one of my suggestions work for you.
{But mine are exactly that, "Suggestions" Not a definite for sure fix}

Good luck to you!!

Thanks for the kind words, Todd. Annarose: This sounds like it is probably a hardware problem. Try what Todd suggested first but if that doesn't work, then the two most likely sources of problems are the contact underneath the button could be bad or covered by dirt. Or the ribbon cable connecting the pad to the motherboard is loose or broken. I have occasionally fixed issues like this by removing the keyboard from the laptop (via screws hidden towards the top) and reinserting the ribbon cable as well as dusting off the contacts under the mouse clicker (the latter is usually a bit more complicated to get to). If you feel brave enough to do this yourself then go for it. Otherwise, I would recommend sticking with an external mouse. If your laptop is still under warrenty then by all means have it fixed.

after bit of research i found out that the mico swithces under the mouse pad pack in after a while and usually long after the warrenty has gone.use external mouse be a lot cheaper than avin to pay to fix it.or get the mouse pad as a spare part and ask a useful person to fit it for you..
