In NY, how long are parents financialy responsible if ther child commits a crime

I was assaulted by a 20 year old male. He was charged with 2nd degree assault. I received multiple facial injuries. Can I file suit against his parents?

18... he is an adult at 18, and HE will have to pay..if you sue his parents a judge will likely throw it out unless there are some underlying circumstances, (for instance if he is mentally or physically disabled)...
