Lexus LS400 problems

Question by john_nigeria Reward: 100 Pond Points + 10 Knowledge Tokens Status: Pending a resolution
I am living in Nigeria and own a 1992 Lexus LS400, service over here is difficult to say the least!!
Recently the car has been having problems when accelerating, it starts jerking and our mechanic said it was fuel pump problem so we changed it, the problem did not go away! Now we have another problem and I don't know if it is related, once in a while the car will not move in forward (reverse is ok!) and the engine management light comes on. We do not have access to anyone with computer scanner so it's a big problem!!
Can anyone give an idea of the possible cause?

This is most likely a transmission problem. Unfortunately you may need to have the transmission replaced which is usually very costly.
