How many possible ways can you fill out a March Madness bracket?

Depending on whether the bracket includes the "Opening Round", the answer is either 2^64 for those with it, or 2^63 for those without it(the majority). This is because there are 65 teams, playing 64 games. It used to be 2^63, as only 64 teams played, but this changed back in 2001 to include that "Opening Round".

Nope--sadly this gets repeated over and over. It's wrong. The combinations are severely restricted--you can not pair Pitt vs. Md as a first round. The number is far lower.
