Montera getting hot suddenly.

I have 99 Mitsubishi Montera. It sometimes get's very hot. After refilling with water, it might run fine for months, then heat up again all of a sudden. It did it once in August, then twice this week.

you might have a problem with the thermostat sticking. you said you refilled it with water? if you need to add water or coolant all the time then you probably have a leak, then it can overheat without enough water.
