My CD-ROM Drive is desperately needed.

Question by metra03 Reward: 25 Pond Points + 10 Knowledge Tokens Status: Pending a resolution
My CD-Rom drive cannot detect when there's a disk in it. Nothing has happened to it. Is there anyway that I can fix the problem without paying for it or will I end up taking it to a shop?

First try inserting a CD that you know is good. If that still doesnt work, check to see if the drive shows up on "My Computer". If not it may not be installed properly (either in Device Manager or it may not be plugged in properly).

all the above and if the drive shows in device manager, try uninstalling it and then reboot your computer. The cd drive should then be found and reinstalled by windows and the correct drivers installed.
