Noises in the woods

I was just outside and heard a growling kinda maybe a bark sound out in the wooded area where I live. There is deer and rabbits around but this is something that I havent heard before my dog started growling and we both took off to the house. It is usually quiet around here but after hearing that I sat on the porch and noticed no birds singing. Are there coyotes or foxes that would have made that noise? Does a deer make a snorting noise?

if its a kinda yipping (high pitched bark) its probably a coyote
