Old fashioned electric blanket

Question by Labman Reward: 500 Pond Points + 10 Knowledge Tokens Status: Pending a resolution
Can you still buy old fashion electric blankets without the fancy controls that keep them from keeping you warm? All the new ones don't come back on if the power flickers off. I hate things improved to where they don't do their job anymore.

I will not accept any answer for one with digital controls.

Hi Labman,

Not sure exactly what you mean by not having "digital controls", since they will all have electronics in one way or another as far as I know. If you mean one without an LCD or fancy buttons, then Walmart sells one:
http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=10262979&sourceid=1500000000000003260370&ci_src=14110944&ci_sku=10262979#ShortReviewTitleBar

The reviews on that one are hit or miss. And I'm not really sure how it will respond if the power goes out then comes back on. It may fail off, or resume in the mode it was previously in. You could try it and see. Walmart is generally very good about returns in case it doesn't function the way you want it to.

Here are some more reviews on Amazon for I believe the same model: http://www.amazon.com/Sunbeam-Accutouch-Controller-Electric-Mushroom/dp/B000SZNWAC/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&s=bedbath&qid=1224873330&sr=1-3

People mention that it does NOT have a 10 hour auto shut-off, so this may be what you're looking for.

If this is not what you had in mind, please post back and I will do some more research for you. The thing to look for is lower priced blankets since that will usually give you less features (which is what you want).

Hot water bottle? Your talking old fashion right? get hot coals and a covered pan and place at foot of bed...but all this is no good you want full coverage and all night heat...
hmm...

just dont buy old blankets - these can be faulty nad cause fire..I now I had a blanket and the heat got red hot and burnt a hole in the blanket while I was sleeping, it woke me up...lucky...

Try eBay, or Amazon...or a sleep world website : )

Again - do not by second hand, just don't lay trust in a product that has a risk.
