Plastic off bottom of Stock Pot.

I set a HOT POT on the table cloth, it melted and the PLASTIC is now stuck on the bottom of my expensive STOCK POT. HOW can I get the plastic off the bottom of the pot??? HELP, it is an expensive pot with the heavy double bottom.

I imagine you might be able to just "burn" it off by sticking it on the range top or in the oven. Don't try it if there is a considerable amount of plastic. The fumes can be extremely toxic, so if you do try one of those techniques, be sure to have a lot of ventillation. Also, have a fire extinguisher ready. Of course the safest course of action is to just purchase a new one.
