Radar detector IntelliMute feature doesn't work

Question by razer21 Reward: 500 Pond Points + 10 Knowledge Tokens Status: Answered
I just got a Cobra XRS 9430 radar detector and the IntelliMute function can't learn my car's RPMs. The feature is supposed to mute the detector if it senses that my car's RPMs are under a certain threshold. While in "learning mode" it says "IntelliMute Error, IntelliMute Off".
Car specs: 1999 Honda Accord V6

Is there anything I can do to get it to work?

Clarification by razer21
Seethemoon,

Great find! Unfortunately I tried those directions and it still didn't work. I will have to try it in another car first to be sure it's just my car and not a defective detector.

Here's some info from the Cobra website:
We care about your safety! Please do not program IntelliMute while driving.

Trying to program speeds above 2000rpm may not work properly. The recommend range is between 1200 to 2000 rpm.

If you have trouble with IntelliMute, try programming a higher or lower rpm.
You may experience unexpected results as the overdrive of your transmission kicks in and out. When overdrive kicks in, the engine rpm may drop below the programmed rpm, and you will not get audio alerts. The engine rpm will also drop if you lift your foot off the accelerator and coast.

IntelliMute may have difficulty detecting the engine rpm on certain cars. If IntelliMute is not working, try the detector in another car. If it works on another car, then your particular car is not compatible.

IntelliMute is not expected to work with diesel engines.
