How do the radiators on the Space Station work if there is no air to dissipate the heat? Where does the heat go?

Although there is no air in space (which would normally be the medium for convection), the radiators rely on radiation. Objects heat up by absorbing sunlight and cool down by emmitting IR (infrared) energy.

The International Space Station uses a series of ammonia pumps to regulate various hardware components. The ammonia collects heat from pipes located next to warm elements and flows out to sections exposed to cold of open space allowing the heat to dissipate out into the cosmos.
