Temperature gauge on Chevrolet Lacetti does not move

Question by leehawkeye Reward: 25 Pond Points + 10 Knowledge Tokens Status: Pending a resolution
My temperature gauge on my Chevrolet Lacetti does not move at all
The garage says this is normal but prior to an overheated engine and repair work it used to go up after a few mins to just below half way
The heater alos does not generate the heat it used to and takes forever to kick in
Is the garage right

it is not normal for the temp gauge not to move. however if you do not have heat it sounds like your thermostat is stuck open and the engine cannot get warm. if the engine does not get warm then your temp gauge will not move. you probably need to change the thermostat and see if the gauge moves then.
