Unwanted roommate, not on the lease or getting mail here.Tell him to leave?

Question by bestb4river Reward: 25 Pond Points + 10 Knowledge Tokens Status: Pending a resolution
I am trying to help someone by renting them a room fairly cheap until they can find somewhere to go. We made a verbal agreement before I let him move in. I have been here 7 years. They are failing in all areas of our agreement. I want them to leave now, as I feel I am being used. They do not receive mail at this address nor are they on the lease. I don't even think the landlord knows they are here. Can I just have them removed immediately, as they are really trespassing at this point because they are totally unwanted here? I will load some cash into this account as I will use it again. My first time here. HELP PLEASE?

As we say, a verbal agreement is not worth the paper it is written on it. (Oops no paper!).
The fair way is to do things in writing from now on to avoid any "misunderstanding" and make it clear that you are giving them a date of evacuation. Choose the date in 5-10 days perhaps to give them time to move. Write that you will take the keys back at this date and their stuff should be gone. If not, you will have their stuff removed by movers the next day in a local storage house at their expenses and they will not get it back from there before they pay for the movers .
Write that their mail will be forward back to the sender after this time for "wrong" address. If this did not help, you may need to involve the landlord and ask for a letter for their eviction. Good luck

Generally,if one accepts money from so-called unwanted tennents, paperwork or no paperwork, if you are on bad terms w these persons. The fact that you accepted money from them for rent, They can wait it out until you have them legally evicted. Tell them that you are moving out onn certain date&they will need to vacate by certain date.
