I agree with those who answered and said that Gerald Ford was the 38th president. Ford first became Nixon's vice president after Spiro Agnew resigned. Agnew originally was elected vice president when Nixon was first elected in 1968 as the 37th President of the U.S. Nixon was then re-elcted in 1972 in a landslide. Then when Agnew resigned, Ford became vice president. Upon Richard Nixon's resignation, Gerald Ford then became the 38th president of the U.S. Gerald Ford ran for reelction with Nelson Rockefeller as his running mate in 1976. They were defeated as Jimmy Carter was elected as the 39th president of the U.S. Gerald Ford was the only president never to have been elected as president.
