it stands for modulator demodulator and is used to sing signals either digital or analoge over a transmission line. Not sure what you are asking specifically

I love this question. I am a computer illiterate. I was old when computers came along, so you can guess I'm really old now. My question would be: explain what a modem is and how it relates to computer usage. I'd like to know. I may have to post my own question.
