If you are in England then yes, American notation uses periods to signify decimals and commas as separators for every 1000. For example:
American: $5,235.25
British : $5.235,25

i beg to differ in uk it aint correct to add a comma or a full stop after numbers.as a separator between pounds and pence yes but NOT in pure maths.I wish people who answer would give the full and correct answer if they are going to be any use.
