I need to replace my dell desktop computer. I mainly use my computer for photographs, music, word documents, email and internet. Should I purchase an Apple mac or another dell pc?
It depends on whether you tend to do more media (music, videos, etc) or business (documents, spreadsheets, etc.), also whether or not you like to mess with the insides of your computer. Media friendly types tend to go for Macs since they have some nifty and easy to use programs for creating music and video such as GarageBand. Most of the business world uses Microsoft Office which is intended to run on windows, but also work on Macs. The nice thing about a Dell is that you can upload any operating system you wish (Windows, Unix, Linux, etc) and change out parts if they break or if you want to upgrade specific hardware. Dells also tend to be much cheaper than Macs. They are also not nearly as stylish (although they have been trying lately). My recommendation is to get the Dell if you are more familiar with computers otherwise it may be wise to get a Mac. The Mac has in store service if you ever need help and they prefer that you not play around with the hardware. Either will work for your purposes, so go try both out and see which you like better.
