automatic starter for pathfind s.u.v started worng how to fix it

My boyfriend has a pathfinder s.u.v with a automatic start..his parents started it wrong and it will not start automaticly. He dose not know how to fix it and is very mad and is kinda takein it out on me so it would be nice if sumone can tell me so i cant tell him!!! thank you very much!!
