Baking soda is an inexpensive powder and has many uses in the house besides being used in baking .It is a deodorant and an open box can be placed in the fridge or in closets or any room to absorb the odors.
It is also good for cleaning by spreading some powder on a dirty surface or when dissolved in water on a sponge. It removes coffee stains and limes in dishes coffee cups or carpet. To remove rust stains from counter tops, etc, cut a fresh lemon in half and sprinkle on a little baking soda and scrub the spot. And many more uses...
