blown fuse/relays

Question by rico Reward: 25 Pond Points + 10 Knowledge Tokens Status: Pending a resolution
I was recently rear-ended by a truck. The trunk won't close and the trunk light is draining battery power.I attempted to remove the trunk light bulb with my key and the metals touched. This blew out a fuse or either a relay.I have already bought a replacement fuse and relay. The problem is his;I bought the car used almost 4 years ago and it didnot come with a owners manual so I don't know which fuse/relay to replace. Is there a website I can go to that will show a diagram of which fuse/relay goes into which slot. The courtesy light, trunk light won't work. Also the windows won't roll down. All this occured when I attempted to remove the trunk light bulb with my key.Can you help?

It is most likely the fuse, so start with that. If you can find the fuse box, sometimes it will have a diagram near it describing which fuses goes to which systems either imprinted in the plastic or a sticker. It is sometimes located on the inside of the fuse door panel.

If you have a multimeter, you can set it to the continuity setting and probe each fuse one by one making sure they exhibit continuity. This can be done on most fuses without removing them if you can see two metal dots on either side of the fuse.

If you dont own a multimeter, you can pull each fuse one by one until you find one that looks visually burnt (make sure you replace each fuse in its correct spot after you pull it before trying the next one).

If this doesn't help, post back with a clarification so we can troubleshoot some more.
