Hey Rolls, the answer to that question depends on if you are playing 8 ball by the N.B.P.A ( national billiards players assc. rule. If you are than yes its scratch and in a race to seven games first wins, than it is a scratch and the stripe comes out and you lose your shot. If your playing bar rules than you can use the 8 ball to knock your shot in, but you must hit your ball first and call the shot the way it is suppose to pan out. But the 8 ball must remain on the table for your last shot. you cannot end a game knocking in two balls at once,unless your playing 9 ball. you can win a 9 ball game by hitting your balls in -in number order. Example..
your shooting the 4 ball and the four gets hit first,and by some accident (or you call it) and the 9 ball goes in you win. I have played pool for years and have trophys and jackets for playing in leagues and tournements to prove it. I feel confident that most people would agree with me. Hope it wasnt you who scratched and if so sorry about losing your bet lol enjoy....

hey rolls sorry i just read my reply and noticed i missed telling you if its bar rule you lose if the stripe puts the 8 ball in on the same shot. sorry
