i have a 1988 volvo 740 gle i just put a new fule pump in the tank and one on the outside and a new fule filter. the is still cutting off going down the rd.and u can give in some gas and it will back fire sometimes or cut off

it sounds like you may have a bad ignition module. if your check engine light is on stop by your local autozone and they will read the code for free. when the ignition module gets hot it will shut the engine down, and when it cools off it will start again. the best way of knowing is to have it tested. also you should have the coil checked. this can also be a problem like you are having.
