car runs and shuts off.

Question by dieselbill Reward: 25 Pond Points + 10 Knowledge Tokens Status: Pending a resolution
i have a 1990 chevy lumina that has a problem i cant find. the car just shuts down. there are no codes and the engine light does not come on. i am fairly knowledgeable about cars. i have repaired, checked or replaced the ignition module, ecm, crank sensor, fuel pump and filter, map sensor temp sensor, ignition switch, injectors and fuel rail. plus a couple of other odds and end sensors. it seems like when i replace or repair one of these parts the car will run great for a little while and then shut down. it will not start again. i have replaced a few parts and the car will start and run great for a little while. cannot find the common link with what i have done and now i do not know where to go next to fix the problem. can anyone help, and thank you very much.

Clarification by dieselbill
the car will crank. sometimes the car will crank but not even try to fire. but sometimes it will start but run and miss out, but not for very long. the problem use to just shut off like someone turned the key off. now and then it stumbles like it is running out of fuel when it shuts off.

Hi there dieselbill,

Can you explain in a little more detail what symptoms occur when the car shuts down? And what happens when you attempt to start it again? Does it try to crank, etc...
