feeling guilty about stealing

Well here is the story, I am an 18 year-old girl that is getting her permit and license soon and I really want to buy a car. I've been having a hard time finding a job to make money to save up for one, so I have been stealing money from my family. I've been doing this since July and have stolen 145 dollars so far, I must admit that I have never felt this guilty about anything in my entire life. As Punishment, I believe that I should be given a spanking for doing something so horrible. What do you guys think?

Good for you for admitting it. Return the money and apologize to your parents. They will appreciate your honesty and go much easier on you than if they found out themselves. They will also be able to trust you more in the future if they know you fess up when you do something wrong.

Stealing is bad, but from your own family....yuck! Never bite the hands that feed you. At 18 yrs old there are many jobs.....even working at MCDonalds, I mean 145.00.... you could of made that working part time at min. wage anywhere. As your punishment you should get a job and hand over the first two paychecks to your family. then start saving for your car and get over the past. good luck and drive carefully.

Give the money back,the rewards and the feeling of doing the right thing will be such a rush, and who nows maybe your parents will be so overwhelmed with you honesty, they will let you keep the money and help you out more than you could ever imagined. guilt is a killer feeling, and the relief of this feeling is such a good feeling it cannot be truly described. good luck
