four wheel drive does not work

i have a 1994 ford explorer and when i push the button for the four wheel drive system the four wheel drive does not engage. I know that it is not the switch because i tried it in another explorer and it worked fine what do you suggest

i would suggest checking the fuses and relays first. if you buy a hanes manual it will give you detailed troubleshooting and things to check. it could be the switch on the transfer case.
