help green pond!

Built a pond last year lost every fish i had very cold winter all were froze, anyway starting again filled the pond bought plants, filter, fish took cholrine out of tap water. Pond was clear for first few days. Now real dark green been looking on internet for ways to get control of alage, dont really want a uv has pros and cons any advice.

peat will remove the bloom by changing the water chemistry.it could be too much direct sunlight causing this.too much oxygen could make things worse if it is a true bloom you need to keep the water slowly moving try the peat without the fish in.a slightly lower ph should do the trick.

your having an algea bloom, it will subside but will aways be algea, a way to cut it down dramaticly is to install a wind powered pump, it will keep water moving so it will not stagnate, and will not totally freeze the whole pond, what we did at the golf course was to throw a couple of bales of hay or straw in the pond, it somehow when it breaks downs releases something that kills the algea bloom, it helps but not real good, i recommend a wind airiation system here are a cpl of sites to look into it;
