If the oil pressure was low enough to light the light, the engine would be clattering terribly. If it sounds normal, likely the sending unit is bad. They usually aren't to hard to replace. Look for a flat, round thing screwed into the engine near the oil filter with a wire going to it. Sometime they are near the top of the engine. You could buy a new one and look for something just like it.
