I have an eight year old that takes a water bottle everywhere she goes even to the bathroom and bed.she will not get on the school bus unless she takes a sip of the water.which i think she holds it in her mouth till she gets to school.she has done this for two years.now she does not want to play with her cousins if they eat something she doesn't like.she tells them to go wash their hands and use hand sanitizer.whats wrong with her?

Clarification by dafad123
I probably should also mention a few other things that she does that concerns me.just yesterday we were at friends house for a birthday party and she was playing hide go seek with the kids when one of the fathers tells the kids to stay out of the wooded area because it might have poison ivy.she freaked out insisted we had to go home because she had poison ivy.and she had to go take a shower.

do you wash and use hand sanitizer alot? if so she is just doing what you do, they {children} do what they see, and with the new strain of influenza going around, it is probly a good idea for her to tell the other kids to wash and sanitize before they play... but i gotta think that she tells them to, and she probly does it alot {wash and sanitize} becouse she see's someone else close to the family and her do it, so like i said, and sure you know, kids are a product of their environment, they copy what others do, and as far as the water bottle, there is or could be a couple of things with that, one thing, the less serious thing, is that it is prbably the replacement of a pacifier, it is type of security for her to carry and hold and have the water bottle with her all the time, but there is or could be a more serious thing or warning for the carrying of the water bottle, {this happened with my granddaughter} mine was always drinking water, always wanted her water cup or bottle, and always "seemed" to be thirsty, I strongly recomend that you have her tested for diabeties, one of the common symptoms of diabeties is that they are always thirsty, my son and daughter in-law, had my granddaughter tested, and found out that i was right, she was diagnosed with juvenile diabeties, and now has to have her blood checked 4 to 5 times a day, and get insulin shots at least 4 times a day,
So I highly recomend to get her checked if she drinks lots of water daily, {rather be safe than sorry}
if she is not drinking the water alot, and just feels the need to carry the bottle, then like i said, it could just be a security issue, and replacment for the pacifier she once had, if she did have one of them when younger, so good luck, hope this helps, but think strongly about having her tested for juvinile diabeties!!!!
good luck, and god bless!!!

there may be a serious issue with security or something in the childs life.first as todd says with diabeties there is a greater need for fluids major behaviour swings breath smelling of peardrops or cellulose paint i think that must be checked but dont freak just check it out.i thing maybe there are psycological issues that could be the root cause of the behaviour change.
the youngster may be experiencing problems that they dont understand or know about try having a chat and be a child again comunication with my boy is easier when i aint dad but a mate to chat to.
good luck and all the best..
