my lcd display

hi,,i have a toshiba te2100 model laptop,,the screen is very very dull,i took of the lcd assembly lid and all and connected it to my friends te2100 lappy and it works fine,,put it back on mine and its doing the same thing very very very faint ,,i put flash a torch on the side of the screen and you can see everything but still very faint,,can you help me please.Bruce
