pop up can't get up

we just bought a used pop up scamper, the top is very heavy but I don't see any water damage inside. it doesn't have a crank. so what makes it so heavy and what can be done about?

there is no crank on this pop up. it seems like water has gotten into the roof, but I see no sign of water on the inside or the outside.

the hinges are very rusty,how do I get the rust off them in order to oil them, or do I just oil over the rust? Should I get new hinges and if so where?

someone has looked at the camper and says the top may have gotten wet. I don't any water damage on the inside. If water has gotten in and the padding is soaked,will this dry by itself, or is there a way to dry it out? Do I need to replace it and if so how?

oil all moving parts and mov them regular.they sieze up real fast get a longer crank made my life much easier

lack of use will cause it to sieze up try moving a little and if it mooves try to oil moving parts and keep moving back and forward to loosen it off.im afraid peseverance and a bit of careful gentle force will get things moving.

Use oil directly on the rusty hinges. This might free them up. Check with the manufacturer if they carry replacement hinges. You might be able to find suitable substitute hinges at a hardware store.
