problems with boat, backfiring and stalling

I have a sea ray amberjack boat, 1989, it stalls and backfires when I accerlarate, the mechanic replaced the coil, syphoned the water out, replaced the fuel line, the fuel filters, the spark plugs, what's wrong with it???

could be a couple of things, here's a couple of suggestions; confirm these are not issues
1; possibly got debri's or condensation got sucked into the carburator bowl,
2; spark plug wire or wires were reconnected to the wrong plugs,
3; spark plug wire or wires are cracked and/or worn and grounding out on the motor,
making it misfire
4; the timing could be off, making it misfire,

I'd start by checking these things out, probably one of the above issues....

if backfiring timing is not right advance the tin=ming slightly and away you go backfiring is when spark is too soon ,check gap on points if there are points or if not advance slightly and away you go sir.
