having an idea how do i go about to register it

You might be able to patent your idea. First start with the United States Patent and Trademark office: http://www.uspto.gov/

It may help to hire a lawyer familiar with Intellectual Property or Patent law to assist you with submitting your idea.

you can not patent an idea only a product or part of/you must register an idea.i have done it and a other people change one tiny aspect of it and there aint a thing you can do.there is an inventors advice centre in ireland.they will help.tell no one of youyr idea until it is legally tied up.
