what is the origin of this question? this seems unbelieveable random

A thermal sand bed is a therpudic device used for relieving pains

A deep sand bed commonly is a bed of fine sand with a depth of 4 to 6 inches to ensure a layer of water in the lower portion of the sand will receive poor circulation. An established deep sand bed is composed of live sand which contain bacteria and other marine organisms such as worms, crabs, snails, and stars. The creatures burrow and overturn the top 2 to 3 inches of sand in search of nourishment, which allows water circulation much deeper into the sand than would not be possible without the creature's aid.

From the DSB point of view, you also get anaerobic reaction that convert the ever climbing concentrations of nitrates in the system which can only be lowered normally by water changes into nitrogen's gaseous form which is then worked through the bed and creature channels and release out of the water column. These DSB system, of which I swear by in my tanks, do eventually break down after several years of use... or even faster through over stocking and misuse.
