why do schools need school nurses

It is a public safety issue, the children need to have a medical representative onsite to assist in small emergencies, bandaids, sprains, etc.. and make the determination when it is appropriate to involve outside medical care. Otherwise every upset stomach, or scrape would involve a trip to the hospital potentially.
