how do i send a text message from a computer to a cell phone?

If you have a cell phone with Sprint or another major carrier, you can go through Sprint's (or other carrier's) website to send a text from your PC to someone's phone.

If you dont have a cell phone, you can use a site like this as a last resort: http://www.textem.net/

But I wouldn't recommend using that last site since they will send advertisements to your friend's cell phone after you send a text.
