Fine art is art created for purely aesthetic expression, communication, or contemplation. Painting and sculpture are the best known of the fine arts. Applied arts: As distinguished from the 'fine arts' this refers to the application of decoration to useful objects (such as ceramic work. furniture, textile fabrics, jewellery and metalwork).
