Dear Jenny,
We, mothers know how difficult it is when a baby does not sleep since we do not get any sleep ourselves however in your case it is more severe because of the overactive central nervous system. My children would fall asleep in a baby swing and sometimes I could transfer them to their crib for a few hours of sleep.I also used a rocker with the baby on my lap. Some mothers use warm milk before bed time and lots of activity or stimulation during the day to get the baby tired. Some babies fall asleep better with some music. Medications are not advised in general but in your case it could be an option . Since the Rubenstein Taybi Syndrome is a rare syndrome, only her physician can suggest a drug. Call him! Be aware that lack of sleep is a real problem for the mother. It is impossible to function and it is mentally and physically exhausting. You will be a better mother if both of you are rested. I hope that you can get some help with the care of your baby .
For the syndrome ,you may find parent support at the site: http://ghr.nlm.nih.gov/condition=rubinsteintaybisyndrome/show/Patient+support
Wishing you the best.
